The magnolia outside our building is at it's peak for only a day or two before the petals turn brown and the flowers fall apart. For the last three years, it's rained on those days and the wind has knocked the flowers down early. I was happy to have a chance to shoot it this year.

The Monroe-Brown Staircase in the Computer Science Engineering Building is an attractive subject that I wanted to show from a new perspective. That's when I found myself hanging out into the open-air column within the spiral to accentuate the repeated geometric elements of the staircase.
