The Visual History of Higher Education
UPAA Print Competition and Exhibition
This year’s annual print competition will be held at the Miami University Art Museum. The images will be on display for public viewing from June 14 - July 3, 2012. The competition will be setup early to allow Miami University alumni to view the photos during our alumni weekend held just before our conference begins. This is an exciting opportunity for UPAA photographers to have their work in a gallery show open for public viewing. The museum’s marketing department will be advertising this show to the surrounding region.
The gallery is a large space and should give us plenty of room to move around and do our judging. Also, the prints will be displayed at eye level for easy viewing.
To make this happen the Museum Staff has ask us to move up are deadline for receiving prints for the annual print competition to June 5, 2012. This will gives us time to install the show before its opening June 14, 2012. The other request from the staff is to leave a ¼ inch border around the 11x14 foam board to allow for the prints to be tacked to the wall without having a tack in the image area. If you want your prints sent back to you after the show ends in July, we are requesting that you provide us with a return shipping label and postage in box.
This requires a little more work for all of us but I think this will be great publicity for UPAA and may help us get other university photographers interested in our organization. Also as photographers we can say our photography has been displayed in an art museum show. We are currently planning a preview reception the first day of the symposium from 4-5 p.m. on June 18, 2012. We hope all members of UPAA can attend this event and this unique opportunity to show off our work.
