The 2011 UPAA Symposium is only a week away and we’re really excited to get underway. With 84 registered participants joining us, we believe that this will be the biggest Symposium in the history of our Association. Here are a few items of importance to remember as you prepare to travel to Utah.

Here is the Symposium Schedule along with maps to the Cotton Tree Inn and Tucanos our dinner and program on Monday Night:

Symposium Schedule

Map from Salt Lake City International Airport to the Provo Cotton Tree Inn

Map from Las Vegas International Airport to the Provo Cotton Tree Inn

Map to Tucanos Restaurant

When you arrive at the Cotton Tree Inn, we will have a check-in desk set up in the Hospitality Room from noon to 5 P.M. on Monday June 20th. There you will receive a packet containing a detailed schedule and maps for the entire week.  We will also include a list containing our contact information so that you can call a member of the BYU Photo staff if any questions or problems arise during the Symposium. Your ID badge will also come with a flash drive pre-loaded with schedule, contacts and maps. Make sure and take good care of your ID badge, it will serve as your entry pass to many of the events and meals that we will attend during the week.

The weather forecast for Provo shows that we will have a great week of temperatures in the low 80’s. Down at Bryce Canyon, the temperatures will be in the mid 80’s which is very mild for Southern Utah. Please remember that Utah is a high desert and condition can change very quickly so please prepare accordingly and make sure you always have bring plenty of water.

There should be plenty of cars here during the Symposium, so if you don’t have your own transportation make sure to arrange to ride with one of the other participants or you can travel with us in one of the three BYU vans.

There will be a van returning to the Salt Lake City area on Friday night after the awards banquet. If you need to return to Salt Lake City for an early Saturday morning flight, please reserve you spot on the shuttle by sending us an email to photo@byu.edu. We will also have several vans returning to Salt Lake City on Saturday morning.

If you have any questions, feel free to call Mark or Jaren at 801-422-7322 or send us an email to photo@byu.edu

We look forward to seeing you soon!

Sincerely,

Mark A. Philbrick and Jaren Wilkey/BYU Photo
